kmarysmith My favorite track is Underground but I could easily listen to Thunderboy's Suite all day, too. Favorite track: Underground.

about

Oh god where to start? We were Ithaca College School of Music students at the end of the eighties. The band started as a mainly improvisatory affair until members started throwing compositions in the pot. Somewhere along the line we became obsessed with John Zorn's Naked City and I think that might be what saved us from becoming a jam band (for better or for worse: we sorta missed that boat, which would have been a pretty good boat to be on, financially). Gunpoint Poetry was everybody's first record, with all the sleeplessness and high expectations that entails. We were interested in changing the world and laughing at it at the same time. We were naive. We were young!! You might like this record if you like Crimson, Zorn, Zappa, Schoenberg, Duchamp, Eno, Primus, Public Enemy, etc... and if you are still a total nerd.
Full band takes were recorded, live in the (small!) room, to 1-inch 16 track tape. No one had ADATS yet! We overdubbed vocals and a coupla solos then mixed to DAT with all hands on deck and some stuff flown in via a SMPTE synced Ensoniq Mirage. Holy crap why do I remember that? Oh yeah, still a total nerd.
